Installation error Cannot find the file specified
#1
I am installing the recently bought copy of the zoom product, downloaded yesterday, and received this error:

Error 1001. The system cannot find the file specified

Clicking the OK button results in an installation failure. I was installing with all the defaults and had previously installed ReaderSvg Pro.

Any ideas on how to resolve and install this?

The event log looks like this:

The description for Event ID 11001 from source MsiInstaller cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Product: Ab2d.Controls.ZoomPanel -- Error 1001. Error 1001. The system cannot find the file specified

the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

I am sorry for your problems.

I have checked the problem and have found out that the commercial version of ZoomPanel does not correctly install on 64 bit machines. I could not find the exact cause of the problem - it is probably related to the Visual Studio setup project.

The commercial installer for ZoomPanel is the only one that is still using the Visual Studio setup project - other products have already moved to InstallAware installers.

I am preparing a new version of ZoomPanel that will be available soon. It will also contain a new installer that will work correctly on 64 bit machines.

As a workaround I have send you an email with instructions on how to install the commercial version.

Found a way.
1) Install older version with serial number
2) Decompress current version
3) Replace DLL

I'm experiencing the same issue here. How can I work-around this?

I don't have an older version to install.

My config:
Windows 7, 64 bit
SVG Reader installed (successful)
Zoom Panel install (failed)
Visual Studio 2010 Premium

I would like to inform you that the new version of ZoomPanel has been just released.

It has tons of new features (a details blog post about it will follow tomorrow) and also a new installer that should not have the problems you are having.

Please log into your User Account pages and download the new versions.
